DANAE ANTOINE
Atlanta, Georgia
About
Danae Antoine is an Afro-Caribbean artist whose work utilizes mostly drawing and painting. Through her practice, she seeks to dissect and understand femininity in patriarchal structures. Danae references her upbringing, the women who reared her, the ways they’ve been exploited, and their resilience. Within her artwork, Danae philosophizes on our perception of femininity and how it can be a form of resistance.
In recent years, Danae has had public art around Atlanta, including The Beacon, Underground Atlanta, and the Atlanta Beltline. Coming up in 2022, she will begin a residency at Anderson Ranch and has exhibited at MINT Gallery, Hous 11 Studios, and The Bakery.
