Club Morph presented its first dance party in early 2016 and began as an effort to create a distinct space for young queer people of color in Atlanta’s nightlife scene. Never shy to push boundaries or buttons, co-creators Jay Levy and Leonce Nelson have taken that parcel of ingenuity and scaled it to an incredible level. What began as a dance party has now transformed into a music and entertainment agency for Atlanta’s QTPOC artists and party people. Morph has garnered praise for its inclusive and impressive events, which have brought artists including Berlin’s LSDXOXO and London’s Manara to Atlanta, as well as Southern performers such as Chattanooga rapper BbyMutha.
When there is a need, a solution can be found; that ethos has driven the growth of Morph to a long list of accomplishments and self-imposed challenges that has developed the collaborative project into something quite unlike any other experience. From major collaborations and international guests, to the activation of spaces often ignored by old-guard promoters, morph has taken the namesake of its platform to heart. A disruptive brand that is both unpredictable and reliably fantastic; a rare combination that defines life’s most satisfying moments. The blooming of what began as a solution for a need into a realized and long-standing institution is the purest description of Morph’s young legacy. It’s a history you can feel and a story you can dance to, so here’s to many more years of finding the answer.
