Robson Artist’s Statement
The work is a rewriting and combination of familiar or forgotten narratives. Visual history, folktales, human achievements (positive and negative), and the late-late show are just the tip of the iceberg. All are fair game. The symbolic baggage of images re- combine to re-present recognized stories. It is looking at things from the other side of the page, holding it up to the light and reading it from that side. The work connects these various interpretations in order to deconstruct the accepted interpretations or to rebuild them from scratch. My work from the past few years has been a rection to the times we live in. The images may make use of history and traditional technique, but the content is reflective what we are experiencing in this point in time.
